You misunderstand. I did not pay the treasurer only _one_ month in
advance. I sent a check to the treasurer on November 6th, but in
personal communication with S&T they said they did not receive my
renewal from the treasurer until the first part of January (this year).
This is _two_ months later. They also checked their records and told me
that in the past they have gotten my renewals in November, and I always
have received the issues without interruption. Had the treasurer sent
my subscription when it was received (or shortly thereafter), I would
not have been out _two_ (not three) back issues. Naturally, I did get
them, but there are disadvantages from getting back issues all at once.
If you recall, AJ also was late getting issues. He asked the question
either in this list or the SAC list (I don't remember which) whether
anyone else was experiencing the same problem. This started my
communications with the treasurer and S&T.

I wish the treasurer was as responsive as you. I had forwarded all my
correspondence with S&T, attempting to find out what had happened. No
response. As Rick correctly pointed out, this is a hobby and not
serious business. A response or explanation of the ground rules (such
as the ones you have laid out in this message) would have been nice,
though, if nothing else than to avoid getting one in this forum under
inappropriate circumstances.

The end result of this is that from now I will have a personal
subscription to S&T. This is more expensive, but it avoids the kind of
problems I have with clubs. At one time this had been my practice, but
I was convinced by another club to start a subscription through them to
save a few bucks. When my subscription came up for renewal I sent my
subscription to the treasurer _FIVE_ months in advance. I still
continued getting renewal notices. I kept reminding the treasurer, but
my subscription still ended up being late one month, i.e., I received
one back issue.

My initial message that started this was not a personal message to
anyone. Az-Observing says "Please send personal inquiries directly to
the message author. In other words, do not use "reply" for personal
messages." If you wish to continue this discussion, I think it would be
better for all involved to do so in personal communication or the
SAC-Board list. I don't wish to antagonize or embarrass anyone, but I
will respond in this forum, if I feel I have to, if a personal message
is sent to me in this forum.
