The C3 movie shows the milky way coming into the field. M8 is easily visible and M20 is there as well I think. Identifying stars is a little tricky as there is so much noise in the image. When it is paused, some of the brightest stars are just artifacts. This is certainly the latest in the year that I've "seen" the M8. Really worth checking out. Oh and the comet's pretty cool too. If you go to the SOHO page, click on "the sun now", then "MPEG Videos", the C3 and C2 coronograph clips are so spectacular, they are beyond words. I've watched them both several times and they are spectacular from their ion tails, the lil-companion sungrazer that preceeds it in, even seeing the Lagoon Nebula coming into the frame at left towards the end. Go to: http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/realtime/mpeg/ and go to the LASCO C3 first, then the C2, of coure at the highest resolution... -Dean -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
