I know this was not a serious criticism of me because it ends with a
smiley, but I feel I need to state that my questioning of the scale was
never intended to be a personal attack against Pickering, but only a
questioning of the scale itself. I don't know who Pickering is or if he
is still alive. My whole thrust was to learn by questioning. As a result
of this I learned, as Thad has pointed out, that the scale has some
serious limitations. Also, when the third ring is brighter than the
second, it should raise questions in anyone's mind who has a little
knowledge of this sort of thing, of which I have very little knowledge
of, but enough to be able to ask some questions.
Clear Skies (of which there are plenty of in Arizona, and of exceptional
transparency to maybe warrant a 'super good' seeing category) to All.
