Paul - Something to also watch out for is purchasing a suite rather than the individual Photoshop program. My advice is to NOT purchase the suite unless you know you are going to use the other programs (and want to upgrade them). I made the mistake of purchasing CS2 as a suite and then found out I never used the other programs. When I wanted to upgrade only the Photoshop program I was told by Adobe that I had to purchase the Suite upgrade (more $$$). That was a bunch of BS. So I instead bought a copy Photoshop CS2 on eBay and purchased the upgrades from there. If you decide to do that, check to make sure which versions can be upgraded to get you to the latest version. IMO, Adobe's pricing for non-professionals sucks, and their customer service policies suck even more. But that's just the wine from the sour grapes that's talking... ; ^) - Sam -----Original Message----- From: pulind@xxxxx Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 11:34 AM To: az-observing@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [AZ-Observing] Re: Photoshop price Mike, I'm using a very old version, Photoshop 6, and it doesn't qualify for upgrade. I'll have to look into the student thing. - paul ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Wiles" <mikewilesaz@xxxxxxxxx> To: az-observing@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, August 14, 2011 11:28:26 AM Subject: [AZ-Observing] Re: Photoshop price $199.<http://www.adobe.com/education/products/> If you have a student ID, or a kid with a student ID, or a grandkid with a student ID or you're in the education industry yourself..I wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of it. Also, many people are using older versions of Photoshop for all of their astronomical image processing with great success back to about Photoshop CS2. These older versions can be picked up on eBay pretty cheap - but again - that's definitely a buyer beware situation. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
