Thanks Dan. My problem is compounded by the fact I also have a broken drill bit
in there too. It's starting to sound like I will have to take the mount head to
a machine shop.

short, what I did was use a Dremel to cut a groove in the top of the
broken screw, hit it with some WD40, and then backed it out with a small
screwdriver. Don't know how much of the screw you can reach, but it

That screw broke a year ago. I got a replacement sent to me from Japan and
thought it would be an easy fix using a drill bit that can unscrew broken
screws and bolts.Well I tried that for quite some time and the bit
eventually broke inside the screw hole.
Even if I got a new part to replace all this I can’t unscrew the ring
because the original broken screw keeps the ring from moving. I am wondering
if any of you know someone or perhaps a machine shop that might be familiar
with astronomy equipment who can fix this. I am, of course, willing to pay
for someone’s time.
