Well, that's right of course. (I was not suspecting some kind of government 
conspiracy.)
 
What I've reconciled myself to is that most of us and I of course have simply 
never seen a meteor with that large of a trail.
 
So, the assumption I was making, that a meteor trail couldn't behave in that 
manner, was just based on my personal experience, which I must adjust.

But we do know, Bill.  The plume is related to the meteor.  Could a White Sands 
rocket launch really be so stealthy that it could not be seen while the rocket 
is ascending by anybody in New Mexico or Arizona?
