My recollection of the many videos of the Chelyabinsk meteor is that
there was a tremendous particulate trail which lingered for quite some
time after the initial event. Don't see why a meter-sized object
wouldn't leave a proportionately similar artifact.
While not terribly rare on a planetary scale, impacts of objects this
size occur with such low frequency that it's likely this is the largest
meteor most of us may ever see. Or sleep right through, in my case.
