<USS Avalon> The Pie

The Pie

Keith walked into his office at Starbase 12, the Avalon had left only a few
hours before, picking up Commander Skyler and Doctor Alexis Cazook. The
doctors on the station for the conference were also returning to their posts
around
the galaxy. Doctor Brookman was on a shuttle back to Starfleet Medical on
Earth. Finally the station would be getting back to normal.
That's when he saw it. A pecan pie on his desk, he only knew one person that
would have sent him a pecan pie. Georgia.
He sat at the desk and took a deep whiff of the pie. 'Ah'. Before he even
took a bite of the pie, he sent a thank you note directly to Ensign Georgia
Jackson on the USS Avalon.
The Avalon. He was going to miss the ship and her crew. But he knew that
someday that this change would come. It was inevitable. Sitting back in his
chair, he cut a piece of pie, and turned towards the windows and looked out,
while he ate it. One day, maybe when he was an Admiral, he would have the
Avalon
back, as his own ship.
