Briefings - End of One Mission, Beginning of Another by Captain Keith Ketchum and Commander Javan Sierra Checking the clock, they had two hours until arrival. He reviewed the mission on a PADD. Trying to figure on how to extract the Romulan from the hands of the Ferengi. Why were verbal reports and debriefing required? Javan thought the entire process was highly inaccurate. What more could he know that what he recounted on the informational reports he'd sent in days before his debriefing? Given the strict guidelines for away mission reports, Javan figured that there couldn't be anything he had overlooked. Crossing the bridge to the ready room door, Javan straightened his tunic and rang the chime. "Here we go..." Hearing the chime, Keith looked up, "Enter." The doors parted and he saw Javan standing there, "Ah, Commander, do come in." Trudging in, Javan took an at-attention stance in front of his Captain. "Commander Javan Sierra, reporting as ordered, sir." "At ease, Commander... I just filed your report with report with Commodore Crusher. Above what was listed in the report, how did the capture go?" "It went surprisingly well, Captain. Mr. Kendrick was good, but with Hollander and Eckstein with me we were able to pinpoint his location easily. However, it was I who detained him. There was a brief struggle, but nothing to serious. And, I am under the impression that Mr. Kendrick was picked up by S tarfleet Intelligence before we departed?" Javan perked an eyebrow, his interest brew in more than one direction. "Then I suppose a commendation will be put into your record noting the capture." He almost winked. "And I believe that it is so. Now I suppose you wish to know the current mission." "Took the words out of my mouth, sir," Javan smirked. "As when I briefed Lieutenant Commander Manson about this, We have been asked to search out and retrieve a Romulan scientist that has entered Federation space and since then has been taken captive by some Ferengi. Mr. Manson will also be providing the duties of Executive Officer until Commander Skyler is better. Any questions?" Javan tried not to let the semi-promotion of Manson hurt, but it did sting. "Understood, sir." "Any questions about the mission, Commander?" "No sir," Javan thought. How about the fact that there is more going on you're telling me? "Then, dismissed." Waiting for Javan to leave Keith turned his attention back to the PADD with the official mission on it. He spun on his heel and trudged out the door, one less obstacle to have to overcome.
