Under Tools|Options|Print deselect Background printing. =20

This will make Word use all of its memory to compile the print job =
properly instead of only using the minimum and running out of space. =
The default is to use minimum so that you can still run other =
applications while it is compiling the print job.

Just means you might have to wait a few seconds for the print job to =
send to the printer instead of being immediately able to move to another =
screen. Small price to pay for getting the right print job I think.

Subject: atw: Linked graphics don't print

I'm using MS Word 2000. I'm writing a longish doc, about 100 pages, with
lots of pictures, mostly emf and png files. The pictures are linked
=3D66ields; not embedded.

The problem: when I print the doc out, sometimes some pictures disappear
and are replaced by white space.

It may be that it happens more with the png than with the emf files, but
I haven't studied it in detail. I can 'fix' it by just printing the
offending page(s) again, but it's a nuisance.

There's an 'Update Fields' options on the Print tab of Tools > Options,
and I have it checked.

Since I seem to have the Carnaptious Nuisance plug-in (makes things go
wrong just when you haven't got the time), when I was in a hurry to get
a clean print first time I tried delinking all the fields. That is,
ctrl/A ctrl/shift/F9. Couldn't fail. But it did; half the pictures came
out blank. Interestingly, the pictures are blank on the screen too, at
least in the delinked version.

This phenomenon has annoyed me for years, and I've seen it with bmp, gif
and jpg files. Does anyone know a way around it=3D3F
