Hi David

Any stereo mixer can record into two separate mono tracks.  Simply pan the
mixer’s left channel hard left and the right channel hard right.  After
recording, split the stereo track into two mono tracks.  But if one wanted to
have three or more mics going to separate tracks, that would stretch the
friendship.

Hi Andrew,

There seemed to be two contexts in which he was suggesting Audacity can only
deal with single tracks.

The first was editing, and that's clearly incorrect.

The second, was recording multiple channels into separate tracks, for example
when recording  from two microphones. This isn't an area which I'm familiar
with, but from what I've read, at least some mixers seem work with audacity and
enable this to happen.

David.

Thanks David.  Governor Staten beat you to it.  I think I will drop JM a line
and suggest that he does a bit more than having a play with Audacity.  Do you
believe it is inaccurate to call Audacity a single track DAW?

Audacity is definitely a multi-track workstation.  I am most surprised if
Jonathan does not know that.  Could you send me a link to his podcast.

Hello guys. I"m listening to a podcast from Jonathan Mosen, Mosen at Large. He
says that Audacity is a single track digital audio workstation. I don't think
that this is the case. Correct me if I'm wrong. When I receive confirmation
that it isn't a single track digital audio workstation, I'll correct Mr. Mosen.
