First, play your audio track and then pause by hitting the P at the point in
time which you want to insert your audio clip.
I usually press the left bracket for the left marker at this point. Then, I
hit the spacebar to select from the [to wherever the], or right marker might
be in the timeline.
I will press the left bracket or left market once again to show me what the
time is and make note of it, mentally. Press escape to clear this and then
press the right bracket or right marker and type in the time that you saw
from the left markers time wheel. Then press enter. This will put both
markers at exactly the same time position.
If there is a hot key for this, I am unaware of it. I would love to know if
there is a hot key because this is a bit tedious and a hotkey key would in
fact, be much simpler.

Another approach is to have the interview on track 1 and clip on track 2.
Deselect track 1 and select track 2.
Select contents of track 2, j, shift k.
Cut the audio from track 2.
Deselect track 2 and select track 1.
Position both left and right markers at the insertion point of the
interview.
Paste audio into interview.
This approach moves anything to the right of the insertion point,
rightward. This works only if both markers are at the exact same time
position. Also note that if you do not deselect track 2 before pasting, you
will actually paste on both tracks 1 and 2. Thus, the audio clip will sound
much louder than intended. I don’t like this method because it makes
balancing volume and other effects more difficult to apply.

to do this. Thanks Ted.

Good morning Curtis.
I would cut your interview track in half at the spot where you want to
insert the movie clip.
Make the first part of the interview track one, then the movie click track
to, then the rest of the interview track three. After this, use your
alignTrax menu and set the tracks end to end. Align tracks can be found in
the alt t or tracks pulldown menu.

Hello: I just interviewed a film director and I am trying to insert a film
clip in the middle of the interview. I need the interview to pause while
the clip plays and resume soon as the short clip is over. I know how to
insert the clip where I need it, but the interview keeps on playing over
the clip. I think this is a time shift issue but I don’t know how to make
this work using jaws. Can anyone tell me how to make this happen?
