First, play your audio track and then pause by hitting the P at the point in
time which you want to insert your audio clip.
I usually press the left bracket for the left marker at this point. Then, I hit
the spacebar to select from the [to wherever the], or right marker might be in
the timeline.
I will press the left bracket or left market once again to show me what the
time is and make note of it, mentally. Press escape to clear this and then
press the right bracket or right marker and type in the time that you saw from
the left markers time wheel. Then press enter. This will put both markers at
exactly the same time position.
If there is a hot key for this, I am unaware of it. I would love to know if
there is a hot key because this is a bit tedious and a hotkey key would in
fact, be much simpler.

and other effects more difficult to apply.
