Hi Egbert, a track can contain more than one separate section of audio data, and in audacity there's known as clips. However, screen readers can't access the full functionality of these clips. For example, say you have a track with some audio data that starts at 40 seconds, and ends at 50 seconds. If this is the only selected track, then if you press j, this moves the cursor to 40 seconds, and if you press k, this moves the cursor to 50 seconds. You can select the time range which includes all the audio by pressing j, then shift+k (or k, then shift+j). With this audio selected, you could press ctrl+c to copy. You could then move the cursor to a later time, say 2 minutes, and then press ctrl+v to paste the data into the track. The track now contains two sections of audio: one going from 40 to 50 seconds, and the other going from 2 minutes to 2 minutes and 10 seconds. A sighted user, using the mouse can easily move each clip independently if they need to reposition a clip. However, this isn't straight forward to do for a screen reader. The keystrokes j and k move the cursor to the start and end of all the clips. There are no keystrokes for interacting with individual clips. So the answer to your question is that you can create a track with more than one clip, but if you do so, it's then not easy to move the clips around latter if you need to reposition them.
