Could you provide us with a short sample file? That is, export just a
one second from the original project.
One thing that is fairly clear, the bit depth can't be the reason for
this to happen.
However, apart from sample rate mismatches, there could be a a problem
with the stereo channels or little/big endian, some NAN values in the
audio etc.

It would do no harm to install Audacity 2.3.3. The next step may be
perhaps to do an uninstall and reinstall. If all else fails, delete the
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\audacity folder before reinstalling.
Substitute your username in that path.

specific format options." I go ahead anyway and export to 16 bit wav
format, but when I play the wav file, it is just super high-speed
gibberish. It sounds like an old reel-to-reel tape recorder on fast
forward or rewind. I did this several times in different projects with
the same result. I shut down and rebooted the computer with the same
result. I have performed this function hundreds of times successfully in
the past. What could be causing this?
