Thanks, I wondered how to turn on narrator. I thought about the
headphone option but this phono preamp doesn't have a headphone out.
I'm using JAWS 15. I'll have to get back to you on the audacity version.

Glad to see you got this worked out...
Curious, what version of JAWS are you using? Also, what version of Audacity and
the Audacity script set?
If my JAWS speech auto routes to a new device I plug in, I often turn on
Narrator (ctrl+windows+enter is the toggle), navigate to the desktop, press
enter on the JAWS version I'm using, arrow to Utilities and press enter, then
arrow to Sound Cards and press enter.
You might notice that the sound card device that you prefer for your speech
output is selected. Often, if I press enter on that device again, it will
re-route my speech output back to that device.
Another options is to plug headphones into the new device (assuming you have
that hardware option).
Have fun!
David

Subject: [audacity4blind] Phono Preamp
I just purchased a Phono preamp with a usb output for use with audacity.
Trouble is, when I connect it it mutes JAWS. I suspect it is muting my
speakers. Thankfully, when I disconnect it JAWS returns. Is there a setting
in my control panel that will prevent other sound devices from taking over?
I'm using Windows 8. I realize this is more of a computer question than an
audacity question but I'm really hoping someone can help me figure this out.
It is frustrating to have a new piece of gear and not be able to use it.
