  You  do need to import the files into audacity. 

  If you hit Menu bar,  the first menu is the "File menu." Arrow down to 
import. 

  You have to give your file a name, or copy in the name if it already has one. 

  Importing is somewhat quicker than exporting. 

  Beyond this, I hope the tutorials  can help.

  I'd like to start using Audacity now but to start how do I get my audio files 
in to the programme or how to I start with Audacity then doing what I require?

   

  For example I want to cut some intros of applause from songss.
