Hi Rick!
Press ctrl-z to undo. Pressing alt-e for the Edit menu will also bring up
that command and tell you what the last action was. If all fails, close
without saving.

Subject: [audacity4blind] File Content Disappeared or was Erased
I was editing a file. When I marked and removed some audio in the middle I
may have hit a key accidentally. The whole file appears to be gone. It
disappeared right after I removed a couple of seconds. Does anyone have
thoughts on how I can determine what happened to the audio. It involved
several hours of work.
