Hi Billy,

Remember, they're your ears - set the bit rate to the level that sounds acceptable to you. A CD requires a sample rate of 44100hz, stereo, and if you do choose to save .mp3 files to a CD rather than .wav, make sure your CD player can play mp3 files - some players cannot.

Thanks so much! I knew that I set the preferences to something to allow myself to hear previously recorded tracks, but couldn't remember what it was. Yes, to answer your question, I downloaded the Lame encoder some time ago, and I had heard that there was a degradation of sound with MP3 files, but had no clue it was as drastic as it is... amazing!
