Hi Greg
Firstly, alt+, (comma) and alt+. (fullstop) will take you to the previous and
next clip respectively. When using those commands, the entire contents of the
clip will be selected. That is important for the next paragraph.
With a clip selected and you open the Amplify dialog, you will be offered a
value to bring the selection up to 0dB. You do not have to (and often probably
shouldn’t) accept that value and can enter a lesser value. If you are offered
a value of 10, the loudest peak in the selected audio is at minus 10dB.
Therefore, by selecting each clip in turn and using the Amplify dialog, you can
check their respective peak levels and can, of course, make adjustments to
taste.
Note that I keep referring to the peak level. If one of your clips has a peak
that is significantly louder than the rest of the clip, that will limit the
degree to which you can amplify the clip. That is when compression may be
considered or, often better as a first step, manually reducing peaks.

I'm running 3.2.3 on a Windows 10 PC My project has 2 clips and the volume on
the clips is a little different. Can you give me steps to select both clips and
get a similar volume on the whole project (both clips)? I've gone into the
Volume and then Amplify settings and pressed "Apply" but it does not make any
changes to the volume levels on the two clips. Thanks for help.

required" is enabled - which is in the track behaviors section of preferences.

1. Moving in small and larger increments. Shift-a does not do anything
that I can find. Fullstop and comma jump forwards and backwards by one second
by default. Shift-fullstop and shift-comma move by 15 seconds. Another option
is scrubbing forwards and backwards with I and u respectively. Zooming in
(control+1), zooming normal (control+2) and zooming out (control+3) will adjust

2. Pressing k should take you to the end of the selected track, not
necessarily to the end of the project. If you are only working with one track

j (beginning of track) and k (end of track) to work. With version 3.2.3 with
only one track in the project, pressing either of those keys when the track is
not selected toggles selection on. Just in case, pressing Enter on the track
will toggle selection on and off. As a bytheway, it is worth going to Keyboard
in Preferences (control+p) and tabbing until reaching the Defaults button.
Pressing spacebar will allow you to select between standard and full. Arrow to
full and press Enter (there is no notification of which one is set). Then tab
to ok to close Preferences.
3. I suspect you are in the top section when encountering buttons. The
lower section largely consists of combo boxes. Like you, I assumed spacebar
would work. However, on checking just now I found that Enter is needed. After
all that, most of them are not terribly useful with the screen reader.
Let us know how you get on with the k key, and anything else.

Andrew, I watched your demos on YouTube and they were excellent. I'm having
trouble, however, with a few of the keyboard shortcuts. I can use the right
arrow key to move in very small increments through a recording. I thought I
could use Shift/A to move in larger increments but that is not working for me.
I'm also not having luck using the "k" key to move to the end of my audio file.
And third and final (for now), there are times, maybe after I've been in the
lower section on the Audacity window, that I hear which buttons are turned
on/off when I press the arrow keys. For example, I hear "Select" on. I thought
these would act like radio buttons and I could press the Spacebar to turn them
on/off. That doesn't work. Suggestions? Thanks to all for help.
