I noted when SpaceX first started flying Falcon 9 that they were trading

On that point, I have wondered whether SpaceX there might come a time
when SpaceX would consider launching launching Falcon Heavies with one
engine shut off. That is, say a problem is detected with one engine
before launch, and margin is sufficient to accomplish the mission even
with one dead engine.
