Thanks for this thought, Rick. My plan (no occasion yet for implementing)
has been to add a note to the copyright page: "v.r, corrected to Mon Da,
Year" without modifying anything on the cover. For revisions but not
versions, I may add "[v.r]" to any end note affected. Would you consider it
important to show at least "v.r" on the back cover?
And I'll see what my indie publisher has to say about standards too!

Please keep the tradition of giving the revised version an incremented
version/revision number. People looking at two copies of the book need to
have an "at a glance" method of determining if they are the same, or, if
different, which is the most recent.
