The "magic sauce" is typically just to add more water to reduce the
concentration. Aqueous polymers and/or AN sometimes are added as well.

 

Green is also a relative term. IIRC, HAN can cause methemoglobinemia if
mishandled and turn you a marvelous shade of blue. I'm not sure what the
threshold is but like many things, it's probably best not to get any on or
in you. Of course, there's always HAP. Someone tried running that with PGDN
to see what would happen.

I was under the impression that the "green" monopropellants were based on

Maybe they found the magic sauce to keep things orderly in an engine.

I've read that citation previously. Note some of the issues. They increase
exponentially in a *steady state* liquid propellant engine or hybrid.
