I got my ARMBook in March. When it arrived all the extra bits in the package,
the power lead and the Ethernet2USB connector were missing; presumed nicked
by Post Office workers. Andrew posted a power lead immediately and later
the Ethernet2USB connector as well, after the machine spent a week back at
RComp;
I had not seated the emmc card properly after trying a different Linux.
The Ethernet2USB connector works well with RISC OS, and the built-in wifi worked
fine with Linux. It does not now, alas, and the fault must be in the hardware,
as it
does not work in either version of Linux that I have available. This rather
negates the virtue of a Linux laptop, but it leaves the RISC OS laptop with the
same facilities as before. Unfortunately the wifi module appears to be an
integral
part of the circuit board in the Pinebook, so a plugin replacement may be out of
the question. And that raises an interesting point of consumer law: is the
machine
in its present state fit for purpose?
