Incidentally did you have UniContrl on iconbar. If so I don't think it's
necessary because UniServerFS is run automatically on boot-up.
I've just performed the same procedure on a Raspberry Pi but and it
works as it should.
I think this is a fluke because I've spent hours trying to get a
reliable text transfer between Windows and RISC OS without success using
UniServerFS. Luckily the printer side seems reliable.
I've largely given up this method of transferring text information
in this way and although not as neat use LanMan98 which is reliable.
ARMX6 RISC OS 5.23 (19-Apr-17)
UniSeverFS, V 4.04 (6-Jul 10)
IcnClipBrd, V 0.17 (1-Sep-14)
Several points:
1) Make sure you're running fixed IP addresses at both ends, and that both
computers know about each other. For clipboard to work, *both* computers
need to know to send/receive data from each other. If using DHCP, either
use a router that understands hostname resolving (my Vigor does) or allows
you to bind an IP address to a MAC address (ie. so computer always gets
same, reserved IP address via DHCP).
2) Current UP is 4.10 from !Store although 4.04 should be fine.
3) UniControl has a "Clipboard" window for drag'n'drop to other
applications. This uses text files, so apps don't need global clipboard
support.
4) Whilst I can't say for LAN environment, I use the feature regularly on
my email RISCube. The only issue I've seen is that after several weeks of
"sleep, not turn off" cycles (ie. I don't reboot the PC) UniServer.exe
sometimes needs to be quit and re-run.
5) It is intended to be used with apps that support clipboard such as
!EmailEdit, Ovation Pro (with said feature turned on in its choices),
Impression (I *think*), StrongEd (but uses different keystrokes for global
clipboard, I think) and "new" !Edit. I have no experience of using it
with IcnClipBoard, but wouldn't expect an issue.
6) I just randomly tried it with text from Chrome into (of all things) a
writeable field in NetFetch (most of my programs support global clipboard
to writeable icons on any OS). Worked fine, even after a week or so of
"uptime". I then followed it up with copying a chunk of this email from
!EmailEdit into NotePad.exe - no issue whatsoever.
Kind wishes,
Andrew
