Manually erasing headers is not the way to do it, there may be a number
of different headers used, depending in the mailing list or newsgroup.
If you are starting a new thread, do not reply to an existing message,
start a new message from scratch.
That works on any email program, on any mailing list or newsgroup - it
could not be simpler.
Agreed, although I find it easiest to compose a reply as normal, then copy
and paste the contents into a new, blank message and discard the original
reply. That takes care of attributions and quoted text.
