Yes, Jim's experiences remembers me to the things that happen in my
ARMX6 system (OS 5.23 18 Feb 18). I have keyboard and mouse directly
connected to the USB connectors on the back. In my set-up not easily
reachable.
1. With some regularity mouse and keys do not come to life at the start.
I have !USBKick running, so I see that in most times then the kick from
!USBKick does (re-)start USB and then mouse and keyboard are ready.
Sometime it does not, and a dead mouse and keys remain. The only thing I
can do in that case is restarting the ARMX6.
2. Some (few) times, always after a certain periode I left the computer
alone, the mouse appears to be dead (also no light, optical mouse). As I
cannot reach !USBKick then, I have to restart the ARMX6.
3. A last phenomenon, only recently discovered, is that when I have an
USB stick in the front connectors, and I start the machine, the icon of
that memory does not appear on the iconbar. When I remove the stick, an
then put back, it appears.
So, my conclusion is there is some weakness in the USB system of the ARMX6.
I can live with it, but it ought to be sorted out, and solved if
possible.

I'm still using the 'old' OS on my ARMX6 i.e. 5.23 18 Feb 18.
In my case I don't have a KVM. I connect mouse and keyboard via a passive
mechanical USB switch. This lets me choose between using the ARMX6 and a
Linux box.
Mouse and keyboard are combined using an externally powered USB hub
'before' the switch.
The keyboard is actually an old type so goes to the hub via an STL adaptor
which also has a mouse input (unusued).
Normally, it works fine. But every now and then I get no mouse, no
keyboard, or both. I can 'fix' this by unpowering and disconnecting the
hub, then repowereding and reconnecting it... usually.
FWIW as it boots up the Linux box usually reports detecting '2 mice', but
sometimes only 1 or none when the mouse isn't found. So there is a
'phantom' mouse added by the STL adaptor.
The keyboard is a superb 'left handed' one I've used for decades, so I wish
to keep on using it.
One more comment: I've noticed that the hub will draw power from the
connected computer if the computer is on but the hub's own PSU is
disconnected. So I need to also unplug the lead from hub to switch to
'break the chain'.
If anyone can combine that with the other reports it might shed some light.
Mostly, things work. But irritatingly often, they don't. This seems more
common first thing in the morning with the Linux box. Possibly because I do
*not* leave it powered all the time, and being off overnight is longer than
off periods during the day.
