I have Hermes installed on my ARMiniX and use it with a number of pop and
smtp servers no problems, until now.
Microsoft's Office 365 smtp has started to refuse to accept out going
emails from me on the grounds of invalid domain name but other isp servers
still work.
I also have a SARPC which still works fine even with 365.
Looking at the differences I found that the RPC simply has ".co.uk" in the
local domain box (Internet config) and that consequently Hermes sends the
domain name as RPCBob.co.uk which I know isn't correct but it has worked
for decades and is still working.
On the ARMiniX the local domain box is empty and greyed out. I spent some
time last night trying to discover why the local domain and the name
server addresses are greyed out but nothing that I did would un-grey them.
Because the DNS address boxes were grey I thought it likely this was to do
with using DHCP as advised by Andrew. Just to see, I switched it to obtain
IP from host name but that did not un-grey the boxes.
Thoughts anyone?
