I've just uploaded a new test ROM for ARMX6 users to the usual download
site.
This version has improved monitor autodetection (EDID) features which can
be invoked via the Screen !Configure plugin (double click !Boot). This
version of the OS is still quite happy with the traditional MDF approach,
but gives you the flexibility of automatic monitor detection if you wish.
Additionally, there are fixes/improvements to serial port handling, and
any other changes to the ROOL tree since the last test ROM in Jan (not a
huge amount, if memory serves).
Note, however, that as with January's test ROM, Aemulor behaviour may not
be quite as good as on the official OS Update 8. In all honesty, I've had
programs like Eureka, Compo (I think) and some others (including
Impression) working on this build, but I did notice that Impression gave a
somewhat "random" error on opening a window, but then continued on as
normal for the rest of the session.
As such, this remains a beta - it also lacks our normal friendly "upgrade"
application. However, the supplied "click and install" solution should be
just as easy, just less pretty.
NOTE - I am now unavailable until Tuesday due to show weekend, so you may
wish to hold fire until you hear that all's well with the update. It has
been on my own ARMX6 all week with no ill effects, but I did rather rush
the public zip out in time for the show. It *looks* good to me though
(I've double checked the contents). :)
Kind wishes,
Andrew
