3rd question is about the CMS-aware programs (Gimp, Cinepaint, Firefox,
etc..). If I already set the monitor profile for the system, do I need
to alter those programs' settings? Do they need to be set to sRGB or to
same monitor profile (hopefully images colors won't be changed twice
after that)?

Dependent how the programs are configured at build- and runtime
they might simply use the Xorg upload ICC profile. Simply look into
the preferences.
You might use tools like dispwin, oyranos-monitor or front ends to
them for uploading the ICC profiles to Xorg. From there the ICC
profiles are transparent to the applications. For multi monitor
setups the situation depends largely on the applications support
for this use case.
Firefox on xorg does NOT use any xorg information, such as ICC_PROFILE, to set
the display profile and only uses the display profile that is set in the
preferences. If none is set in the preferences then it uses sRGB as the
display profile. There is an open bug on this in the firefox bugzilla.

So should it be pointed to the monitor profile? If so, then there's a problem with multi-monitor setup - each monitor has its own profile.
Then it's better to leave it on sRGB?
