Yes, I attempted that too, but got the same error. The first one, for
which you sent me later a patch.
Well, in my previous post I'm describing the very simple fix. After that I
could compile the whole without problems.
I agree with you about the "constant churn of OS releases" but in this case
it wasn't only a whim of a new compiler. Multiple definitions of variables
were perhaps tolerated by some compilers but never were considered a good
programming practice. And, as you can see, it was only a matter of time
until they weren't tolerated any more.
I certainly hope that the fix I sent won't break some other compiler ...
