I'm not sure how exactly Graeme splits up the transformation of XYZ LUT profiles into its
components (1D curves, matrix, CLUT). If the resulting CLUT happens to be pretty flat, it
requires a lower number of points to achieve a particular interpolation accuracy. [ Note,
at least the CLUT of Lab profiles can have a significant curvature, even if the device is
"well-behaved". As said, I'm unsure regarding XYZ LUT profiles created by
colprof. ]
Btw, are the internal LUTs calibrated? If yes, what target TRC are they
supposed to emulate?
