I finally figured out why the files didn't open and that was my own error in duplicating the *.ti3 file extension and not noting that in the command line. However, when I run the utility on the exact same files, I get a printout similar to the one you show below followed by an error message and the program stops working (Win7). I did have two ti3 files that I had prepared four weeks ago and those are averaged fine. The utility on my computer clearly does not like the newer files. I can read the file fine under profcheck and get a full log read out of all the patches. Strange behavior and I'll look into it a little further. I'm getting pretty low standard errors and if need be I can go back and read problematic patches. When I compared the two excel spreadsheets there was not much difference between readings (I guess I always could write an Excel program to do the averages but I'm not going to spend time on it.) thanks, Alan From: argyllcms-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:argyllcms-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Magnus Wallden Sent: Friday, May 27, 2011 11:56 AM To: argyllcms@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [argyllcms] Re: Problems with 'average' utility Hi ! This for Ms XP. //Magnus 2011/5/25 Alan Goldhammer <agoldhammer@xxxxxxxxxxx> Is anyone else having problems with the 'average' utility with the new release of Argyll? I tried to average to 'chartread *.ti3' files and I keep getting an error message saying that 'average' cannot open the first file. It doesn't matter if I switch the order of the files. I've looked at the files in Excel and everything looks OK and each *.ti3 file will build a profile using 'colprof' so they are recognized there. Attached is a zip of the two most recent files that I've tried to average. The complete error message is: Error - CGATS file 'i1_msr.ti3' Read error: unable to open file 'i1_msr.ti3' for reading While user error is always a possibility, this utility is so straight forward to use. Any help would be appreciated as I don't want to do repetitive chart readings if I cannot average them. thanks in advance, Alan -- Magnus Wallden Klockarevägen 29 331 52 Värnamo +46 (0) 370 10478 +46 (0)703 33 45 19 magnus.wallden@xxxxxxxxx
