You can't really do color management if the device and viewing
conditions aren't stable. Typically people turn such features
off when doing critical work.
Got it! I did turn it of for the profiling.
It also seems to separate calibration for different
connections. This rule out the "Use the windows machine"
option for me.
Hmm. Can't you reset it so that the internal calibrations for
all inputs is the same ?
I have 6 modes for each connection (User 1, User 2, User 3,
Paper, sRGB, CAL). The CAL mode is the one that is used when
calibrating with the included software (ColorNavigator) and that
differs between DP and DVI. For Argyll I am using "User 1". In
theory I should be able to profile "User 1" with Windows and then
use the .icc on BSD but it leaves to many ifs for me like.
Is there a difference between DP and DVI for User 1?
How much does ColorNavigator interfere with this?
That is why I abandoned that option.
How can I check if the VideoLUT is the same between the BSD
and the Linux? Clear it with dispwin -c?
At a programmatic level, dispwin can check if a particular LUT
is loaded using the -V option. To gain confidence that
everything else is the same, manually measure (using spotread
-e) the values of a few patch levels, such as what "dispwin -m"
shows, and compare the numbers.
So basically connect the intrument to my laptop. Boot OpenBSD on
my workstation, take a couple of readings, reboot workstation
with Ubuntu Live USB, redo the readings and compare.
I will give that a swing this weekend.
