Hi,

I have just started experimenting with my new eye one pro on linux.

I have installed Argyll CMS 0.7b8 and configured udev according to the
installation guidelines.

It seems this is sufficient to make the i1 work. I can run dispcal -yl -r and
the device is found.

Question 1: I have to disconnect the i1 from the usb port after each run and
reconnect it before a can perform a second dispcal run. If I try to run a
second test without disconnecting, I get an error:
dispcal: Error - dispread failed with 'Instrument Access Failed'

Checking /proc/bus/usb/devices shows the device disappears after the first
run. Is this normal behaviour or is something wrong with my configuration ?

Before starting the actual calibration, I first wanted to test the current
settings of my Eizo LCD monitor with dispcal -yl -r

I had heavily modified the controls on this monitor in the past to match some
other screen. The first test gave me some results. I still have to learn how
to interpret all these numbers, but that's not a question for this e-mail.

I am following the tutorials in the Argyll documentation to do a calibration,
which suggests to reset the lcd to factory defaults for a start. So I did.

With the factory defaults set, dispcal -yl -r doesn't run succesfully anymore.
I allways get this error:
Sample read failed due to misread
Hit Esc, ^C or Q to give up, any other key to retry:
when dispcal tries to read the white test window.

When I reduce the brightness of the screen to 50%, the test succeeds.

Is this behaviour expected and how do I best deal with it?

Thank you in advance,
Geert
