In my own experience... the machine needs maintenance... the motor (in case 
you, as I, didn't know) that drive the main shafts of the Amaya is TinY- I was 
shocked when I saw one when my (excellent) tech had to repace one in one of 
mine.  That being said, if any part that (sorry-don't know the technical terms) 
of that "drive system" doesn't have enough lubrication.  Almost every time I 
have done maintenance, Z-axis errors disappear for the most part.  Oil the 
machine well, and do any maintenance procedures you (me, too) may have 
"prolonged", and I'll bet you these errors decrese.  BTW-the first stitch is 
hardest on the machine, in my opinion, because it is the very first penetration 
at the very slowest speed.
