Hey guys,
Know that when you have a file that has been created in version 6.08,
and
then you save it as an earlier version, there is a chance that some of the
information associated with that file will unfortunately be lost. It all
has to do with the bells and whistles in the latest software that the older
versions just don't comprehend. I know this is the case for 6.08 going to
earlier versions. Not quite sure about version 5.07 going to 4.02 and so
on. Although I do think this is the case as well. Would have to try it out
again.
The only way to insure that the information necessary to run the design
will stay put when others with different versions of software attempt to
open it, is to save it as an ".exp" file. The downside to this is that if
you don't have DS pro or pro +, you really can't edit the file if you choose
to.
If you do have DS pro +, and can convert the "expanded" file to
wireframe,
the software does it's best to convert using it's fancy algorithms and
filters. Sometimes I wonder about the whole copy of a copy thing. Meaning,
if you convert from OFM to EXP and back to OFM, will you have what you
started out with? If someone can answer, I'd appreciate it.
Hence, John, If you can make this file available as an ".exp" file as
well,
more folks will be able to access it and possibly give feed back.
Thanks,
Ed
