   I believe the notches make it so the grabber can be retracted to make
 needle replacement easier.

   Oh, that's referred to as "toggling the grabber" and the bar is the
   "grabber blade" which is kind of ironic because although it looks like
   it cuts the thread, it doesn't.  If you ask me, I say it should be
   called the thread "tail pusher".  And why not make the Grabber Blade
 out
   of something like clear plexiglass so that you can see through it when
   doing a trace.

   Just my thoughts.

When I said to move 'the bar' I was referring to making a 'trim' to stop the stitching by pushing the 'sickle' and 'bullseye' button for lack of more technical terms. Then you can move the needle, change colors, etc. or start over from there if you have to. Roland
