It might be time to spend five dollars for a desktop mike at Wal-Mart and
rule out the possibility that you have a bad mike. Thanks.

Yes, its a different kind of jack not like the other ones, a little bigger
plug he told me that is also pink. I never voice chatted before thought it
might be fun, it is hard, cause I checked everything and seems like that all
of the check boxes that needed to be checked are checked. I am sure you
heard of for-the-people.com? Do you go there daily? When I entered in to one
of the rooms I did hit the left control to talk spoke in to my mic
everything was turned on, still did not hear anything. That boost DB thing
you mentioned is checked. I thought it would be easy to set up, I guess it
is quite tricky, in fact I did the recording thing using sound recorder it
is a part of windows, again nothing. Far as I know my headset is plugged in
properly, what is going on here?

Oh? Do you have another jack in the back of your computer? Mine is not
working. But in the back there's another jack. try it and see if it
works! See if your husband can find the boost. Visually He would have to
really look for it. it's in your sounds and Microphone. My room mate
couldn't find it. She did but even Jaws cant find it. A sighted
person can find it however, it's really tricky. Good luck!

Hello there. I went back in the volume control center and doubled checked
everything all of the boxes that you mentioned earlier are checked, still
nothing, unless I have a bad headset, maybe a desktop mic would work out
better, on the headset I turned on the mic physically again nothing
happened, I know I have an excellent sound card, would a USB mic work? The
sound card I do have on this computer is a vinal AC97.

Go into volume control and make sure the advanced controls are checked in
the menus. Under playback, make sure that microphone is checked and unmuted
preferably. Under properties in the menu, select recording controls and make
sure that the mike is checked. Make sure you don't have a switch turned off
on the physical mike. If this is unclear, I'll try to expand on these points
or someone else can do so. Thanks.

Hello glad I joined this list. I was wondering how do you set up the
microphone on my computer I have done everything as far as checking the
boxes that I am supposed to and still I can not hear anything when I speak
in to the mic. I did sign up for-the-people.com, would love to get in to the
chat rooms, when I do, I hit the left control on my keyboard and when I do
say hello or something like that, can not hear myself, in fact I even
checked the volume controls and they are up the mic is turned on and I did
have my husband check out the jacks am pretty sure the mic is plugged in,
and am using a headset with a microphone attached to it, the only thing is
it did cost around 20 dollars, any suggestions as to what would work out
better? My computer is pretty new does have a multi channel sound card am
running windows xpsp3 this computer does have a really fast processor Intel
Pentium 4 plus a 1 GB hard drive with 512 megs of ram and am using window
eyes 6.1. Thanks for your help.
