Hi Rajmund

I have never reported it to be honest. It occasionally does, but I just
reboot and it's fine, no worse than any Windows PC problem I can tell you!

Kind Regards,

Hello Jackie,

Does your mailbox ever lock up? If so, what did they say about that one?

I don't use either the calculator or GoogleChat applications. I use
Email on the U2 Mini in the evening sometimes and find it ok. There
is another bug in the Twitter application that Hims are aware of and
are planning to fix for the next release.

I would hate to be without it, I use it daily and find a need for a
specialist note-taker despite all the uses for my Smartphones.

Hello Jackie,
Good for you. 10100 to the power of 100 still kills the calculator,
the pop mailbox still crashes for no apparent reason, google talk, if
you attempt to call someone and is not voice chat available, the unit
will say: "Xx is not valid status for voice chating." Neither have
been fixed, and I consider the email to be such a big issue, that the
apex is still, even though its horribly slow, my primary email client.

Hi Carol

Absolutely agree with you on all counts. As long as we have a
work-around, that's the main thing. And, like you, I love my U2
Mini for
various tasks.
Now the display has been replaced, I am really pleased. There are
some bugs which I have passed onto Hims, and they seem to be
addressing
them.

Hi Jackie and all who may be interested in this one ...

OK, hope you saw my last post on this subject ...

To clarify: Yes, I'd use the two-four-six with dot seven when
writing as part of an address, in computer Braille. It may not be
technically correct, but it appeared to work for me.

Yes, you can use 4,5,6 in Grade II. Again this may not be
technically correct; but it seems fine as long as you realise that
you won't always get it spoken if your punctuation is set to "none".

Hope this now means at least that we have a workable solution and,
frankly, that matters to me more than being politically correct
these days and I still love my Braille Sense for what I need it for!
<Smiles>

BTW: Did you know there's an upgrade?

You can get it in the usual way, directly upgrading. If you want
the full URL then I can dig this out maybe tomorrow.

It addresses some of the issues in FaceBook, but HIMS hands seem to
be tied by so many limitations of Facebook that it's really not
their fault that everything doesn't work as we'd like. GoogleTalk
should now work, but I hear it's definitely supposed to be going soon
...

Dropbox was out for a couple of days but now is working OK for me
with the upgrade and some tweaks from HIMS end.

Twitter also wasn't working again before this upgrade ... I really
am getting tired of all these providers not caring about access for
all and that includes those who wish and perhaps need to use
something like the Braille Sense.

Anyway, enough for tonight! It's late!

Guys, forgive me, but I am confused! (smile.) Are you saying you
use dots two-four-six with dot seven to write an underscore? I
would mainly write one in an Email address, but haven't come
across one for a
little while.

I agree there are some strange anomalies. Because I have speech
turned off on my machine, I am very definitely going by what the
display is showing, so am mindful when it comes to Emails and
tweets in the hope translation is correct.

braille on the

Hi Julie and Rachmund, and anyone else interested:

OK, sorted again and here are my findings ...

There are "oddities" when writing with Braille Sense, translating
and sending via email, etc. These are mainly to do with the
letter sign which seems to get inserted into URLS on received
emails. I have raised this with S&S but haven't received
clarification so just do the best I can when I write.

The other awful one seems to be the underscore but here's what I know.

This will go pretty crazy, producing figures 6's, and/or plus
signs, if you start playing with the Grade of Braille to use.

I have only got it working properly in the following circumstances.

I sent an email from the computer to the Braille Sense to confirm
which character it was showing. That was right. It was the "OW"
sign with the addition of dot 7. (I was using 8 dot Braille at
the time I read the email but I could have used 6 dot).

You can make it correctly by using this sign but only (I think) in
a .txt file. You can use either the uppercase or (if in eight-dot
mode) dot 7
(backspace) along with the "OW" sign.

The problems come when you decide to look at it in contracted
Braille and/or Grade 1. Then it shows the characters I indicated
earlier.

My advice therefore is, if you must use it, do it only in a text file.

I have swapped Braille grades with some success at the start but
then as I change between them and/or read what I have written, it
all goes haywire again!

Hope this is enough!

Carol P

Hi Julie,

I haven't time to look it up now, but I will try to do so tomorrow.
Are used to use it, but did have trouble with this one. Somehow
it seemed that it was a little bit suspect! Not quite sure why
either!
Anyway, I did get it to work, and will look it up as soon as I can.
If you don't hear from me and don't get an answer, please write
to me
again tomorrow.
I will look it up! Sorry I can't do it now!

Hi List

When I type u with space and the contraction for "ing" after it,
the braillesense doesn't seem to recognise this as an underscore
sign.

So, does anybody know what I owd be typing in instead?

Best wishes, Julie.
