Hi Andy

I'm not good at measurements, but it is definitely lightweight, with a carry
handle on the side. The keypad is very easy to feel, with a telephone-style
layout and additional buttons for play, back, forward, volume, tone, Go To
feature, and a clock /sleep timer facility. The speaker is situated in the
top left corner, and it does have a good sound for listening to books etc.
You slide your CD in at the front, face up, and there is an eject button to
remove it. It takes SD cards and USB memory sticks.

I must admit I use mine extensively every day for listening to talking
books, I love it. I can copy the books from CD onto my SD card, then put
that card into my Victor Stream if I wish to have something smaller on me.
I prefer listening to a book on the speaker rather than through headphones,
so the Stratus, for me at least, is a worthwhile servant I wouldn't be
without. It is smaller and lighter than the original Victor Classic machine
RNIB used to distribute with their talking books. And while they now
provide you with the Plextalk machine as standard, I much prefer the Victor
Stratus, though this is, of course, subjective.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

How portable is this? I use headphones when I'm working in the garden,
it also helps me to concentrate on what I'm doing. does this machine
play MP3 files as most of my books are this.

I would agree with you Carol. I use the Stratus as well as I don't like
having headphones on when reading for hours at a time. I find the sound
quality on the Stratus very good and comfortable to listen to. I wish it
supported Audible as a player on their device list.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Andy,

There is the picture strutters which Mike has. It's really quite portable to
move around the house, though of course isn't as small as the stream! It
does have a very good sound quality though, and we are impressed with it for
general listening. I would think it may well be adequate for some with
hearing difficulties.
