hi John,
some how i missed the start of this thread but from your reply i gather you
would like to find a good indoor aerial.
a friend of mine who lives in blackpool asked me if i knew of one last october
and although i had one in mind when i tried to find it i found the RgTech
Monarch aerial instead.
the write up and reviews were very impressive so i thought i would recommend it
to him.
but as i had only a couple of weeks earlier returned from holiday to find my
loft distribution unit had failed and was without tv for a couple of days while
waiting for a new one to arrive i thought i would buy one myself to keep as a
backup.
when it arrived the first thing i thought was this wont be much good as it
wasn't as substantial as i thought it would be.
normally my tv signal is via a loft mounted high gain wide band aerial but i
was shocked when i plugged this portable aerial in instead to try it as i had
just as good a signal on all channels as i get from the main aerial and that
was a supprise as portable aerials have never worked for me here in the past.
i didn't even put it near the window i was just stood in front of the tv which
is on the opposite side of the room with it in my hand aiming it roughly in the
right direction for the sandy heath transmitter.
i did then recommend it to my friend in blackpool and it worked for him to.
i don't know what they have done with this to make it work so well but
apparently it was invented by a NASA scientist.
they sell it in 2 versions one that covers 30 miles from the transmitter and
the other covers 50 miles.
i got the 50 mile version in transparent but they also sell it in black.
this one was under £25 and the 30 mile version is less than £19.
while i was reading up on ultra wide band television signals which this one
handles i came across an article saying that everyone will have to have an
ultra wide band aerial in the UK in the next couple of years or so as the way
signals are transmitted is going to change.
after i received the aerial RgTech sent 3 or 4 follow up emails giving advice
on everything about the aerial and then to check if it was working ok for me.
i got this from amazon, i'll put their description below followed by the items
URL.
Designed to pull in HD, digital and analog signals from up to 50 miles away and
from all directions, this breakthrough design FREEVIEW aerial outperforms
traditional aerials and it's fully compatible with any digital TV.
Designed and engineered in the USA by the 23 patents holder and NASA Hall of
Fame scientist, Dr. Argy Petros, this patent pending aerial transforms space
technology into a commercial product that gives you the chance to watch TV
EVERYWHERE and for FREE.
RGTech's Monarch Indoor HDTV Aerials are among the very first aerials that
incorporate Ultra-Wideband Technology (UWB), a technology used in radars and
similar to that applied to an aerial developed by Dr. Argy Petros for NASA's
Jet Propulsion Laboratory (used in remote sensing applications) which achieves
high bandwidth. This revolutionary technology along with the multi-directional
reception ability and the integrated 4G filter, eliminate mobile phone signal
interference and allow our aerials to produce a simply astonishing image on
your TV.
So why spend time and money on conventional aerials? RGTech's New Generation
UWB Aerials outperform existing aerials available in the market and promise
that you will never look back!
Just plug the Monarch aerial in, tune your TV and enjoy Free HDTV at superior
