John, Not had any mobility training since moving to Perth, but my wife, who is partially-sighted, is able to give me quite useful help by using Google Maps or Google Earth (can't remember which). I've done quite a number of journeys where I've recorded her instructions and then been able to have a shot at the route supplemented by the phone. I realise that this is only of use if you've got an intelligent pair of reasonably working eyes, but it's helped me quite a lot in recent times. I have tried to get a mobility person in Leeds to show me arround the location where our chess club plays. apparrently it would take six to eight weeks for maybe some one to come out. if you can see you can take short cuts through the rail way station now I can maybe do this with my satnav but even me likes to actually do a route with a good mobility person. i then can put things in like the door of the pub where we play and the nearest bus stop. I find the centre of Leeds a real maize so if these systems make things better for us then what's great. what amazes me though I never seem to be asked by developers to give feedback about these things. in fact when I last tried to phone the council there was no way to actually speak to a human being. so soon with all the cut backs we will just have to manage. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
