Hi Will.

Not necessarily, I've a Samsung N140 netbook on which I do all of these things. A netbook has the processing capability and resources to serve adequately enough and I've found nothing to complain of. Of course, its no replacement for a conventional laptop or pc, but you can't beat a netbook and external drive for portability and convenience especially as you can attach and detach at will.

All the best, Ibrahim.

if you want that kind of functionality you may as well buy a full laptop not a netbook

Hi Jim.

Its totally subjective as to how much you want to spend and what your looking for. May I ask firstly what exactly you want to use the drive for? Are you just looking for a cd rom drive for instance or are you looking to watch dvd's, burn cd and dvd disks and so on.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi List,

I have a Samsung nc10 net book and I'm on the look for an external cd / dvd writer. I've had a look on sites such as amazon and althought the prices, £35 to £45, seem reasonable, I see mixed reviews about such proeducts.
What's your experience?
I'm open to suggestions.
