Hi Carol,

I am assured by Eset that Version 8 will work for some time to come,
including virus definition updates. It is only the component engine that
has been updated in V9, so don't worry just yet. You may well get your full
three years out of V8 if they don't do anything, and I reckon they will.

All the best

Steve

I do agree, Clive, but I'm having to lay off some of these things right
now, for health reasons, and I haven't upgraded because I haven't been
forced into doing so. I keep getting the "later" message, though (come
to think of it) I haven't seen that for a little while now.
Obviously I'm still updating my database and, if I wasn't able to do
that then of course I would be annoyed/alarmed/having to take action!

I think it will be an uphill climb because I've been with Eset a while
now and they really don't appear interested in our little market ...

Anyway, I don't intend to lose my money, so maybe I'll be forced to do
something ...

Hi Carol,

If you paid for three years one year ago, since it's vital to keep your
anti-virus suites updated frequently and regularly, if you have to migrate
to another programme and buy again, wouldn't it be worth kicking up a stink
about this? Demand your money back, threaten to go public with your
grievance, and so on? If this approach isn't the right one, how else do you
think we could wake up those developers at the top?

Best,
Clive

That's bad news about Eset. I have put off upgrading till hearing it was
accessible and I've paid for three years! Not happy about that!

HI all.

I'd be intrested too, as having spoken to Eset in the UK they are
really pissed off the developers have really bust accessibility in latest
v nine.
The UK Support have provided me with a list of command lines, but
that's unacceptable, according to them. they are tearing their hair
out over this, they have stressed accessibility for years and years
and years, but the developers at the top don't seem to take any notice.

Subject: [access-uk] accessible paid anti virus suites apart from Eset?

hi everyone.

i'm due to renew my Eset anti virus subscription, but I am wondering
if people use any other paid products that are accessible with screen
readers?
as eset 9 isn't accessible yet and goodness only knows when they'll
bother to make it accessible. i am not keen on GData or Avast as
they're not as accessible as they were, and interfere with access
software by removing what they class as harmful files but which in
reality are files jaws requires to run. i've already tried MSE, avira
and AVG. AVG i just find to be a resource hog, avira is add supported
but still does a decent enough job, and MSE has the lowest detection
rates unfortunately. has anyone had any experience with any other suites?

all the best,

Mo.
