Fare comment, however, the previous answer to me is nonsensical since the H1 has no menu per say.

Hi,

I don't think anyone is suggesting that there is a menu button. What I
am trying to say is that there is an LCD readout that tells you which
mode or function is chosen. It isn't menu driven but has a display -
I think it is accessible because the controls are hardware based.

So, where is the menu key on the H1?

Look forward to the answer on this one.

Thanks for the replies. I think the conclusion is that unit is menu
driven, it is accessible via the hardware. I shall have a buy.

Yes, but he menu system is there to manage the unit. If you have no need

to
use it that is great, that isn't what I was trying to point out though.
Anything that has an SD card is most likely to have a menu system of
some
sort whether the user chooses to use it or not.

I have to disagree with you on this since I own an H1 and have never had

to

go through menus to manage the recordings.

The problem here is that anything smart enough to be able to record to
SD

card will need a menu system to manage the machine. A possible option
albeit quite expense is the Olympus DM-5 which is more a posh
Dictaphone
than a field recorder like the Zoom H1.

There used to be a very simple non-SD card using Olympus recorder that
had

no menus whatever, I don't recall its model number.

Hi there

I do have one and find it very useable. I myself am totally blind and
find
the control surface accessible since every button does perform a
particular
function.

The only thing that will need assistance is the date and time setup.

The recorder has an omni-directional pare of mics that are 45 degrees
to
each other thereby giving you a 90 degree stereo separation.

The recording formats are MP3 and WAV. I can't remember the exact
sample
rates but it does go up to 96 Khz 24 bit.

I hope that somebody else is able to give you more info on this.

Regards.

Subject: [access-uk] Zoom H1

Dear all,

I am looking for an inexpensive digital recorder for voice and some
music too. I want a stereo system and one that is quite small and
portable. I happened across the Zoom H1 Digital recorder. Has anyone
used one? if so, is it any good? are there any other suggestions for
accessible recorders? no menus etc....

Thanks,

BJ
