Yep, we have at least one of these sharps talking calculators, they were 
brilliant at the time.

  It does indeed have a metal body, and it sits in a type of wallet do hicky.

  It's long.  It take s4 AA batteries that I havent' honestly changed in over 5 
years and they haven't leaked either.

    I remember having a talking calculator when I was at school, one of the 
first I think. For some reason I called it Cuthbert, and as I am not in the 
habit of giving my gadgets names, I can only imagine it was actually called 
Cuthbert. Am I raving here or can anyone else remember this? It was great and 
lasted for years.
