[access-uk] Re: Speech survey (please help us find a UK voice suitable for older users)

Hello Debbie,

not having a go, but actually some older people could find it harder to
understand certain speech synthesisers if their hearing isn't what it once was.
The problem with this survey is that they are targeting older people, but
making the assumption that older people are all alike, instead of thinking
about the different situations different people may find themselves in during
later life.

Regards,
Clive

How about the incredibly annoying "Barry from Watford" as featured in Radio 2's
Steve Wright Show?
Just a thought.
Don't understand the point at all. Do you lose the ability to understand
English as you get older. If so, this is something we all ought to know.
Apologies for being flippant, don't have a go at me, I am only joking.
Debby

Why didn't AISquared write their own survey pages? It can't be that difficult!

Wondering what a voice suitable for older people is?

Vince.

Why should this be posted when it is actually said that it is not accessible
for keyboardusers? Surely the request should have been refused. I find it
very hard to believe that a more accessible alternative could not have been
found.

AiSquared have asked us to post this message for them:

We've designed a speech survey for UK participants, to help us find the
best computerized voice for UK ears. Unfortunately the survey is not
accessible to keyboard users. That's ok -- the primary audience is older
users unfamiliar with assistive technology. We're looking to get about
50 responses.
