Hi Amro
Sorry to hear you found the same problem, but it verifies my own findings, and
those of others who contacted me about it. I tried to persist with the issue
in the hope it was a driver or just something I was doing, but nothing stopped
it unless I bypassed the audio by connecting a speaker.

I’ve just ordered a laptop configured to my specification and can let you know
what I think of it once I’ve had some hands-on?
Good luck.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Subject: [access-uk] Re: Speech problem on a new laptop
Hi Jackie and all,
Thank you, Jackie, for your testimony; it was most helpful. It confirmed the
suspicion I had. I spoke to Dell support, and while they did the usual of
updating this and that and trying to solve the issue it was unfortunately to no
avail. So I have requested a return as I am still within Dell’s fortnight
cooling off period.
It has to be said, I am impressed with Dell’s technical support team. The two
agents I spoke to were courteous and seemed knowledgeable. Dell Support Assist
software is helpful too and quite accessible with Jaws, and of course, it
allows for full remote access. As well, it does not require you to reconnect
the support agent when they restart your machine, which I thought was a nice
touch. I can only hope that whatever replacement laptop I get I will have the
same level of support from its manufacturer.
One thing I really did not like about this laptop model (XPS 9570 15.6 inch)
though is the keyboard. The keys are overall on the small side, and they are
not clickie enough to my liking. In addition, Dell could have made the F keys a
little taller , and they could have made the space between them and the Escape
key on their left, and the Delete, Insert and Print screen keys on their right
a little wider So they are easier to feel. Another thing about the F keys that
they are set to function as special shortcut keys when pressed alone such as
volume up/down, wireless on/off etc. I found pressing Function key, F7 and Caps
lock together to bring up the link list on a webpage for example a bit of a
stretch. Over all Dell could have done a better job with the keyboard for such
a high spec 15-inch screen laptop IMHO.
Laptop is going back now, so in a way, problem solved.
All the best
Amro
