Hi Tom
glad to have been of help. internet radio is very interesting. It means that in theory, as long as a station is on the internet, you can tune in. after the recent new zealand earthquake we tuned into one of the local statins to get an on the spot report. it was obviously a fairly automatic station as they announced after the news headlines, "and now the sport" long pause, "and that was the sports news". as soon as they announced the first part i wondered "sport at a time like this? happy listening.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your suggestion, i've contacted Wireless for the Blind and they are going to assess me themselves.

Tom.

Hi Billy,

After 4 emails and 2 phone calls to my local Blind Society
to enquire if I qualified for a radio on loan, I gave up. They didn't even reply to my emails or calls.

Tom.

Do you have to pay this annual fee to get access to the radio, or can you
just turn it on and listen to what you want.

I don't mind paying £300 for the radio, but having to pay £25 a year to be
able to use it seems a bit of a rip off.

Tom.

Hi all,

I know this has been discussed before, but it did not interest me at the time. I am thinking of purchasing the sonata internet radio from Wireless
for the Blind. My main question is will it pick up any internet radio
station? One of my main wishes is to carry the sonata around the house to listen to the BBC cricket commentaries found on the internet. Does anyone know whether this is feasible? Also, is the sonata mains only or can it
be
used with batteries? And finally for now, how easy is it to add stations
yourself rather than asking Wireless for the blind to do it for you.

Any help would be appreciated.

David
